Making money generally is not an easy task to many, but to smart people it is easy as ABCD, I will not tell you that it is easy but I will tell you that you need to have a strong will and patience in order for you to earn a dime online. There is no easy cash online you just have to work smart and you will be thankful to this document in the future.
That said let us get down to the details on how to make money online, I will use some examples I use and I know certain individuals in Kenya are using to make money online.
Generally there are many ways on how people can earn money online. However, I will not touch on all but will focus on two that I use and am aware of being a success. Making money involves the following two ways:
- Making Money Online Blogging
- Making Money Through Article and Academic Writing
1. How To Make Money Blogging
Blogging is considered as the best way to earn money online all over the world, to get a blog you have two options here:
- Hosted Blog - In this option the blog is not completely yours in that it is hosted by someone or some company and you are allowed to create an account just the way you create your email account and you are done. The two most common Hosted accounts in this category are Blogger and WordPress. For example this blog is under a Hosted blogger plan and it is owned by Google.
- Self-Hosted Blog - With a self-hosted Blog you are in control, it is totally yours and you can do whatever you want with it. Serious bloggers recommend this kind of blog to those who really want to make money money online. This kind of blog is not free as you have to buy a hosting plan and install WordPress software and some plugins and a lot of customization. You might be required to obtain services of an IT guy to do that for you. Contact me if you find it necessary.
Now the question is how do you make money when you have a blog. We call it monetizing your blog and there are many ways you can monetize your blog. I will give you two most sure ways of doing just that.
1. Placing Adverts on Your blog
When you have a blog there is space where you can place adverts on the blog and if people click on the adverts you get paid, some advertising agencies may chose your blog and you can charge them per the duration that their ads are live on your site.
The best advert-serving company is Google it pays well and many blogs utilize this feature to earn money online. I am using it too on my blog and I can gladly say it is the best.
Now you may ask I am using a hosted blog and making money from it? Yes I am on Google's platform and they are the ones who own adsense too, it is easier for them to accept me into their program than to most self-hosted blogs. If your primary intend is to make money online blogging and want to use a free hosted blog then blogger is your choice over WordPress.
2. Affiliate Marketing
This is the second most surest way some bloggers are making money online, this is basically marketing other large companies products using your blog. NOTE: You can use adverts too for affiliate marketing. It is as simple as this;
You search for companies or websites that have the affiliate marketing feature, subscribe, get a link and start marketing using that link or advert, you can write about the product you are promoting or place the advert on your blog, if a visitor clicks the link and lands on the companies website and buys the product you are marketing, you get commission. With this kind of blogging I recommend you get your own blog hosting where you can customize it to feature your specific niche.
Blogging can be a passive way of making money online as in you don't require to be active while making money, you will write posts and take a break for the search engines to index your site and when you have enough posts they will generate income for you. Although I don't advice you to break from blogging when you are just starting out, work and work smart and hard.
2. Article Writing & Academic Writing:
Some Kenyans will term the two as Freelancing, I refuse to use the term freelancing because it is so broad and involves a lot more than what Kenyans really do online to earn dollars. I will not spent much on them but that does not mean they are not of any importance when it comes to making money online. as a mater of fact a large chunk of Kenyans who make money online do it through online Writing jobs. Now Let us go directly and look at them:
Article Writing:
This is so so straight forward, if you are good with writing and have passion you can try writing online content. All you have to do is identify one or multiple online accounts, create a profile and look for work to write. I have compiled a list of sites many Kenyans are using to work online through writing. Join them and start earning immediately.
Academic Writing:
I will try to differentiate the two, Article writing can encompass academic writing if you like it that way. There are lots and lots of lazy college students abroad who only sit for exams and pay some people to do their homework's, thesis and other academic papers at a fee and Kenyans being the bright lot find these jobs satisfying enough.
