Nganya Awards 2013 Nairobi

The 2013 Nganya Awards which is the 2nd to be held in the City is finally here. They are the modes of transport common to all Nairobi residents. It has been tradition ever since for the Matatus to out do each other in terms of swag style and fashion. For this reason the Nganya awards 2013 being the 2nd of its kind, is out to celebrate the best in Public Transport in Kenya and we have categories. see below. The Grand Entry (A11) and Best Overall aka Kenya 1 (A17) are the two most highly anticipated categories in the upcoming awards, which seeks to celebrate the best in Kenyan public transport.

Last year saw the winner of the Grand Entry award bequeathed the prize after the matatu showed up at the KICC while being pulled by a Hummer. By the time the award starts, the votes are in and the fate of most of the matatus is sealed. But in the Grand Entry category, that's where they can outshine each other on site.

The Best Overall (Kenya 1) category is most sought after prize in public transport. The award is given to the matatu that has proven that it is undoubtedly the best in the entire country. It could be down to looks, loudness or just how the public's perception of the crews. Check the other categories below and vote.
The celebration of Kenya's vibrant public transport culture takes place this Sunday, 24th November at the KICC Grounds between 10.00 a.m. and 6.00 p.m.
Voting for the awards will exclusively be carried on the Safaricom network, which is also giving voters a chance to win airtime simply for voting. Amount to be won ranges between Kshs. 100 and Kshs. 1,000.
Voting closes on the 24th, just before the event begins. SMS the code of the category you're voting for followed by the name of the PSV you're voting for to 20072. Below are the categories in which fans will vote for winners:

To Vote Sms ' code of the category followed by the name of the PSV ' to 20072. Safaricom lines Only Participants in the voting will get a chance to win Safaricom airtime ranging from Kshs. 100 to Kshs. 1,000. The more you vote, the high your chances of winning.

  1. Nganya Awards surprised me ..seems to be a very creative way to promote maatu culture. I never knew such an award would be forthcoming. We should use such events to improve our road safety since everytime I hear of an accident a Matatu is involved. Events like Nganya awards should be used to sensitize matatu drivers on road safety. Thats my take
